Parallel Supercomputer facilities at QUAKES

Australian Solid Earth Simulator (ASES) thematic national parallel supercomputer facility for solid earth simulation

Phase I (established): SGI Origin 3800 with 52 400Mhz MIPS processors (41.6 GFlops peak, 1.3 TB disc, 26 GB memory)

Phase II (end of March 2003): SGI Altix 3000 with 40 Intel IA64 processors (est. 144 GFlops peak, 1.3 TB, 40 GB memory)

Phase III (December 2003) SGI Altix 3000 with 208 Intel Itanium 2 processors (est. 1.1 TFlops peak, 5 TB disc, 208 GB memory)

Structure

The Centre is a joint centre in the Departments of Earth Sciences and Civil Engineering. It is based in the Department of Earth Sciences at St Lucia campus of the University of Queensland.
